Niche Displacement for Glyndor Gallery at Wave Hill

Best experienced in person, this piece can be described as a site-specific photographic architectural intervention. A photograph is taken of one of the niches and then installed over the same niche in the foyer at Wave Hill's Glyndor Gallery. The trompe l'oeil like effect is meant to visually activate the room as a whole. The viewer walks in, sees nothing, and only notices something is off when they walk by and the perspective of the niche does not change as they move.

On the opposite wall, which architecturally mirrors the wall with the niche displacement, a grate is photographed. The resulting photograph is then installed over the actual grate.
